Periodic examination can be done at either other private health centers or other seafarers´ health centers.
The appointment for getting a crew member’s medical certificate must be made in good time:

A recognised medical practitioner at the health centre for seafarers has the right to issue a seafarer’s pre-sea examination certificate required at the time of departure for maritime work or at the start of related studies.
Pre-sea examination
At the time of the initial examination, a radiologist’s expert opinion on the lung X-ray (not older than one year) must be presented if the seafarer is engaged on international voyages. Lung scan is not required for seafarers engaged on domestic voyages.
The lung X-ray is usually taken at the home municipality health centre and the X-ray statement is included in the pre-sea examination.

A urine sample is taken during the nurse’s appointment.
Bring your eye-glasses, you may not use contact lenses during the examination. shall not be used for inspection. Eyesight test with and without glasses.
